Only four beaches in Struga and the surrounding area have engaged water rescuers, for greater safety of vacationers in the waters of Lake Ohrid, informs Zhurnal.
The secretary of the municipal organization of the Red Cross in Struga, Adhurime Dauti, says that so far rescuers have engaged only the beaches “Versus” and “Dada”, the camp “Livadishte” and the hotel “Izgrev”.
This tourist season there are only dozens of rescuers who have entered into agreements with beach concessionaires, including the aquapark at the Izgrev Hotel. “Other beaches are not provided with trained lifeguards,” said Dauti.
In recent years, she added, four beaches in the city have hired lifeguards, but it is not known why they did not do so this year as well.
“Swimmers should be careful while having fun in the waters of Lake Ohrid and be aware of the danger they may face. “I especially appeal to the vacationers who use the river Drini i Zi, because it is not allowed to enter the water”, said Dauti.
In recent years, Red Cross rescuers have intervened in several different cases for rescue.// Zhurnal.mk
