In Macedonia, two minimum wages are not enough for basic monthly needs

Two minimum wages are not enough to cover the basic expenses of a family of four. The latest calculations of the Macedonian Trade Union Confederation show that in November the minimum expenditure basket was 33,742 denars, which is 3,874 denars more than two minimum wages.

Most of the money is spent on food and drink as well as paying bills. However, a family of four, living in a 50-square-meter house without a vehicle, needs MKD 14,149 for food and drink, while MKD 8,547 to cover utility costs. For personal and household hygiene, the minimum expenses are 2,375.
